A Chance to Meet, Cheer & Support the Crew, Reconnect, and Row!
Bubbly Creek Rowing Foundation invites you to join us for our annual NU Crew Alumni Day. The event is being held in conjunction with the North Shore Channel Challenge (NSCC), a head race hosted by Northwestern and North Park Universities on the channel in Skokie. Bring your family and friends, reconnect with fellow alumni and friends of NU Crew, and cheer the crew as it opens its 2010-2011 season.
The NSCC will feature head races between varsity boats from the University of Chicago and hosts Northwestern and North Park Universities. The races run south along the channel and finish near the crew’s home, the Dammrich Rowing Center. Racing begins just after 8:30AM and will conclude by 1:00PM.
At the conclusion of the collegiate racing, alumni are invited to compete in some rowing of their own. Once the boats are off the water, we will have a barbeque lunch during which alumni can reconnect with former teammates, meet the current team, and share stories from years past.
The event will be a great opportunity to reconnect with old teammates, make new contacts, and show your NU Crew pride. For those who can attend, we suggest a goodwill donation of $50 to support the current team. This can be paid by check or by credit/debit card using this site. Please email Peter Eck, a member of BCRF and member of the Alumni Day planning committee, at peter.eck@bubblycreek.org, by Friday September 24, 2010 to confirm your attendance.
Please note that even if you cannot attend the Alumni Day, BCRF urges you to consider making a donation to support the organization. Any amount helps!
As many of you know, one of the primary purposes of BCRF is to ensure the continued viability of NU Crew by sponsoring the team’s truck and trailer. Without this support, the team would be unable to attend spring training and out-of-town regattas. BCRF faces the challenge of funding the annual costs of maintaining this equipment, including insurance, maintenance, and off-season storage. These costs typically run ~$2,500 a year. In addition to supporting the team through your presence at Alumni Day, please keep our mission in mind as you consider your contributions to the team.
If you're ready to donate, please click here. Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you in October!
