Eric Lev '98 - President

levEric was a member of the NU Crew team for four years, from 1995-1998. He rowed for three years as a lightweight and was lucky to have a number of successes, including a second place at the Dad Vail Regatta. Eric coached the novices during his senior year, and served as Racing Chair during his sophomore season. Since graduating, Eric has remained involved in the sport, and is currently a sculling member of the Lincoln Park Boat Club. Together with Mike, Eric has also spent the past few years getting BCRF up and running.



Michael Andrews '97 - Vice President

andrewsMike rowed as a Lightweight for Northwestern from 1993-1997. Recently, he helped co-found the Bubbly Creek Rowing Foundation (BCRF) and is serving as vice-president of the Board of Directors. He has spent his years since graduation in Chicago, and is currently working at PepsiCo.



Nicole Boardman '99 - Secretary

boardmanNicole rowed for the women’s team from 1995 – 1998. She served as the Women’s Captain and President of the team. Nicole, her husband Brian (1998) and their daughter Lyla live in Chicago, where she is the Director of Business Operations at KIPP Ascend Charter School and enjoys training for marathons along Lake Michigan on the weekends.

Derrick Grava '84 (Honorary Lifetime Director)

gravaDerrick started the Northwestern Crew in 1981, where he met his wife of 20 years, Joan. Although Derrick no longer rows, his son Nicholas (16) is on the Choate crew and his son Christopher (13) rows for the St. Andrew rowing club in Atlanta. Derrick remains involved at Northwestern as an alumni interviewer. Derrick has spent the last 21 years in the financial services industry and is a Senior Vice President at UBS Financial Services, where he structures and markets funds for the Alternative Investment Group.



Kyle Fleming '88

flemingKyle rowed (1987-88) and played lacrosse at Northwestern. He (now) fondly recalls the old days: duct tape repairs, getting lost, Water Tower runs, befuddling Harvard coach Harry Parker at the old collegiate championships in Cincinnati, and hanging out with his teammates—his best friends today he met through NU Crew 20+ years ago. Kyle still suffers on his erg, but spends more time playing soccer and snowboarding with his kids. He is a member of the Cleveland Yachting Club, the NU Club of Cleveland, and numerous professional legal organizations. Kyle is a partner with the IP law firm of Renner Otto Boisselle&Sklar where he is does patent litigation.



Mark Klitgaard '89
Contact Mark

klitgaardMark (WCAS 1989) rowed for Northwestern from 1987 through 1989 as a starboard in fours and eights while the club rowed out of both the Lincoln Park Lagoon and the base of the Chicago river. NU Crew was one of Mark's favorite endeavors while at Northwestern. Mark now sculls with the Los Gatos Rowing Club, occasionally competing in indoor races or regattas. Besides joining BCRF, Mark has remained active with the Northwestern community by serving on the NU Alumni Admissions Council for a number of years. Professionally, Mark is a Senior Manager with the International Tax Services Group of Deloitte Tax LLP in San Jose, California.



Derek Roller '05
Contact Derek

rollerDerek rowed for Northwestern Crew from 2001-2005. During those years he was fortunate enough to serve as his novice team's captain, the team's equipment chair, and, during his senior year, the team's president. Derek graduated from Northwestern's McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science with degrees in Mechanical as well as Manufacturing and Design Engineering. He is currently a second year student at Boston College Law School in Boston, MA.



Aaron Zdawczyk

zdawczykAaron is a Senior Assistant Director of Admission and Financial Aid for Northwestern. He served as Northwestern Crew’s varsity men’s coach from 2004-2008 and as the novice men’s coach from 2003-2004. Prior to Northwestern, he coached rowing at Boston College, CRI in Boston, the Toledo (Ohio) Rowing Club, and Anthony Wayne High School. Aaron rowed for the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts where he was captain of the team in 1997.
